Well it was a lot closer to 3,000 than it was 12,000 that's for sure. There is about 1,000 seats for each upper tier part of the east stand so you can work it from that.

I would say you're way (WAY) off the mark there Penners.

If there was less than 50,000 I'd be very surprised. I would go for 53,000 as the actual numbers in there.

If you averaged out that a lot of people will miss probably 1 game a season that will mean there will be around 3,000 empty seats every week.

I'm in the north-west part of the ground and I see the eyesore of the whole claret block being empty, large sections of the east, north and south sides as well.

Sold Out every game don't you know...

"Atmosphere has been exceptional"

Has it? Other than a few incidents on Saturday, the atmosphere has been more like a funeral then a football match.

Empty seats a mixture of can't be fucked, banned and not selling out.

To David Gold, David Sullivan and Karen Brady - Fuck off.

You're not the only one. It makes home games feel like away games.

Re: Massive blocks of empty seats.
It's the big blocks of empties which I find weird. There's a section in the East upper near the TB stand that seems to always be empty- looks like Claret seats but it could be a claret tarp.

I expect most people in the upper tier can see it quite clearly.

Definitely more spaces around where I sit in the last couple of games, too. Most of them seem genuine West Ham rather than 'others'.

If the players do the business on the pitch, the stadium will be fuller. Then again, I'm not sure what sort of fans start staying away if the team is going through a bad patch,

the sale of 10,000 kiddies tickets certainly did not help....all it was for many was a cheap option to be able to get an upgraded adult ticket for a mucker who could then select which games to attend.

Ticket Exchange to open for Sunderland

West Ham United are delighted to announce that the Ticketmaster Ticket Exchange will be live for the next home game against Sunderland on Saturday 22 October (3pm).

The service has been designed to enable Season Ticket Holders who are unable to attend a match a safe, secure and reliable way to sell their seat or seats to other Season Ticket Holders and Claret Members.

The service was yet to be activated this season, but will now be fully operational as soon as the match against Sunderland sells out.

Joint-Chairman David Sullivan says he is delighted that supporters will be able to benefit from the service.

"The Ticket Exchange provides a legitimate way for Claret Members and Season Ticket Holders to buy and sell tickets in a way which benefits everyone," he explained.

"Whether is it is a family commitment, a pre-booked holiday or a problem with childcare, supporters will now have the opportunity to market their Season Tickets to some of the thousands of supporters who are searching to buy one.

"Claret Membership is at record levels and our waiting list for Season Tickets numbers more than 50,000, so it is clear the appetite is more than there to watch West Ham United.

"I encourage all Season Ticket Holders to use the service to make sure as many Hammers as possible have a chance to attend games at London Stadium.

"The atmosphere has been exceptional at recent games, but every additional supporter will help as we create an atmosphere that will drive Slaven and his squad up the Premier League table."

More information, including full mechanics of the service, will be announced over the coming weeks.

Re: Massive blocks of empty seats.
Small point but any empty seats at UP would immediately be rendered invisible by the decompressed bellies of the people either side gratefully taking up the valuable extra room, and therefore covering up the empty seat to the naked eye.

They were, shall we say, snug?
